Speakers Policy

Expenses

CppNorth is organized by a non-profit organization, so any speaker who can have their travel cost covered by their company is strongly encouraged to do that. Your employer will be listed as a travel sponsor if they do so. However, it is very important for us that anybody who could give a good talk will not be prevented for financial reasons, which is why we can help any selected speaker with covering the cost of the transportation and hotel.

Speakers who are employed by publicly traded companies which do not cover the costs of their conference travel and accommodation will not be able to display corporate branding while speaking. This includes both presentation slides and apparel.

Conference Registration

Registration for the conference is free for all speakers!

Hotel

Three nights of accommodation at the conference hotel will be provided for speakers upon request. Speakers will be supplied with a special hotel reservation link.

Transportation

For the transportation, depending on your location, we can give you a maximum expected budget that covers an economy class round-trip ticket and will reimburse you as follows:

  • Up to $1000 CAD for Speakers from North America
  • Up to $1500 CAD for Speakers from Europe
  • Up to $2000 CAD for Speakers from elsewhere
Baggage fee, seat selection fee or any other upgrades will not be covered by CppNorth. If you need something different for any reason, please contact us and we will discuss it on a case-by-case basis.

From The Airport

Speakers are encouraged to take UP Express from the airport to the Union station downtown Toronto. Conference venue is adjacent to Union Station. CppNorth will not be covering any cab expenses.

Meals

CppNorth will cover the speaker's cost for the Belonging Dinner.

Miscellaneous

If they desire speakers can purchase CppNorth t-shirts on our Online Store. (cost not covered)

CoC

As a speaker, you will play a key role in how attendees enjoy their conference. That is why you will be held to a high standard regarding your language and behavior while on stage. No oppressive humor will be tolerated and we ask you to try your best to avoid vocabulary that can make part of the public feel ignored or excluded. If you have doubts about a joke or part of your talk and want to discuss it, you can contact us at conduct@cppnorth.ca
